Getdown Services - Leeds Brudenell Social Club, 12/11/2025 (LIVE REVIEW)

Inside Leeds’ Brudenell Social Club, the post-gig after party (1) is in full swing. The floor’s been swept of its discarded beer cups, the residue still sticky on the boot soles. The tunes are uplifting but not quite matching a euphoric aura that hangs in the air - because we’re only midway between back-to-back sold out sets from Minehead’s finest (and only?) - Getdown Services.

Josh and Ben must be pissing themselves. They’ve clearly tapped into the hearts of a fed up nation through a mix of daft laughs and infectious beats. ‘Get Back Jamie’ and ‘Crisps’ already solid crowd-pleasers as the social club lap up round 2. At times the set almost feels like we’ve stepped  into a seaside town comedy club. When did you last see a quiche-eating contest between two up for it punters?  ‘Eat quiche, Sleep, Repeat’ - a slice of pure genius.

Getdown Services have mastered a sound that combines and cements the generations . Existing somewhere between Yard Act and Sleaford Mods and maybe Isaac’s (Soft Play) other DIY outfit, Baby Dave - in slightly tighter disco trousers - all delivered and executed with a hefty dose of dead pan British quirkiness. ‘Don’t Cheese Me Off’s lolloping hypnotic beat is reminiscent of The Orb’s classic,‘Toxygene’. The knack of turning each song into something so danceably irresistible is indeed ‘fuckin insane’ - The playful crowd-pleaser of ‘Dog Dribble’ rounding things off.

Visually unappealing, occasionally clumsy, frequently ridiculous. And they might just be the best thing your reasonably-priced ticket money could purchase right now.
